The Penn State research also found that feeding heat-treated colostrum did not negatively impact the growth of pre-weaned calves. Growth parameters measured at weekly intervals showed heart girth, hip height, bodyweight and withers height of calves fed heat-treated colostrum were about the same as those of calves fed unheated colostrum.
